Pioneering Taekwon-Do in Wexford

Established in 1972 by Master Liam Dandy, Wexford Taekwon-Do Club is one of the pioneering Taekwon-Do clubs in Ireland. After its founding, the club was led by Mr. Philip Siggins, who nurtured its early development. It truly blossomed under the guidance of Master Patrick O’Rourke, reaching new heights in the world of martial arts. In 2023, Mr. John Barry, a dedicated student and practitioner from his youth, took the helm, continuing the rich legacy of the club.

Wexford TKD is uniquely split across two locations – Wexford Murrintown and Wexford Town – yet operates as one. This allows members the flexibility to train at either site, benefitting from consistent, quality instruction and the opportunity to engage with a broader community. The club’s ethos, cultivated by Master Pat’s dedication, continues to thrive, fostering a sense of family and unity among all our members. Wexford Taekwon-Do boasts a distinguished history of nurturing numerous black belts, especially under Master Patrick’s mentorship. Since 2023, with the leadership of Mr. John Barry, Mr. John Corish, and Mr. Pat McCaffery, two more students have attained this prestigious rank, perpetuating our tradition of excellence.

Innovating for the Next Generation

Looking ahead, Wexford Taekwon-Do is excited to introduce Taekwon-Do for Kids’, a new program designed for children aged 4 to 8. This initiative will lay the foundation of Taekwon-Do and emphasize safety in everyday life, nurturing our youngest members in their formative years.
